This picture was taken under the Santa Monica Fwy. near Alameda Street in 1965. The dark blue and white Kenworth seen here was one of many owned by Roland Taber Trucking of Visalia, California. Roland Taber was a loyal Kenworth customer and his rigs were a common sight up and down the “Golden State” for well over three decades. Typically, you would see a Roland Taber KW pulling a Regal Pale Beer trailer. In the 1950s, Regal Pale Beer was a very popular beverage (as common a beer as Bud or Coors is today). The Kenworth seen here appears to be a late 1950s or early 1960s model as it has a butterfly hood combined with fiberglass fenders. I don’t know why or when Roland Taber went out of business, but if someone out there does, please contact me through 10-4 at 1-888-440-4104.
