This picture was taken in 1965 at Steve’s Richfield Truck Stop on Alameda Street, north of Washington Blvd., in Los Angeles, CA. The colors of this White-Freightliner were red and blue. Pulling for U.S. Electrical Motors, who had facilities in Los Angeles, Chicago and Milford, Connecticut, this rig ran coast to coast. Chester Base of Pomona, CA leased this rig, along with others, to U.S. Electrical Motors and had a sizeable fleet of mixed makes of trucks. Chester Base hauled just about anything - you could find his rigs anywhere in the country. Cab-overs and conventionals, the Base fleet was made up of Kenworths, Peterbilts, Freightliners and other makes. I don’t know what happened to Chester Base or any of his rigs, but they were a common sight from the 1950s well into the 1960s. Anyone knowing the whereabouts of this company or any of its trucks can contact me through 10-4 at 1-888-440-4104. Check out my website at www.linerigs.com today.
