This photo, taken in 1957, shows a 900 series GMC owned by C.C. Camacho of Tuscon, Arizona. At the time of this picture, this rig was trip-leased to Sterling Transit of Montebello, CA. Colors of this “Jimmy” were dark green with black fenders and power probably came in the form of a 671 Detroit Diesel backed by a 5-speed main and a 3-speed auxiliary for trannys. C.C. Camacho ran between the Tuscon/Nogales area of Arizona into California, hauling fruit and produce. He also had another GMC that was painted red with black fenders, which hauled similar loads. This photo was taken behind my house when I lived in Montebello, CA. It is not known what happened to this truck nor if C.C. Camacho is still around. Anybody that can shed any light onto this truck or the whereabouts of this trucker can contact me through the magazine by calling 1-888-440-4104.
