JANUARY 2005 WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO... Post's Grey & Black KWs Story and Photo by Truck Historian/Author Stan Holtzman
In this 1956 picture we see a 1949 Kenworth, parked at Trucker’s Paradise in Montebello, California. This tractor was one of many KWs owned by Post Transportation of Los Angeles. Post was a leading transporter of chemicals and had been in business for 30 years when they closed their doors in December of 1984. The battleship gray and black colors were a common sight, as the Post rigs ran through California and Nevada hauling their loads. When Post started, brand-loyalty was the rule of thumb, however, in their final years, Post, like most carriers, had become price-conscience, and began buying Peterbilt and Ford products. Post may be gone, but I’m sure that there are plenty of old-timers out there that can still remember the familiar gray and black rigs that dotted the highways of California and Nevada.
