Words of Wisdom from SharLeigh

THE PEN IS MIGHTIER
THAN THE SWORD

The United States Constitution governs this nation and its three branches of government – the Judicial, Legislative and Executive.  The United States Constitution has made our country The Land of the Free.  But now our country seems to be in a crisis mode and the differences of opinion are splitting this country right down the middle.  The House of Representatives, the Senate and Political Commentators are so divided they are calling each other names and tearing issues apart.  The preamble to the Constitution spells out what it means to be a citizen of this great nation: We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.  The Preamble to the Constitution packs a powerful punch: 1) a more perfect union; 2) establish justice; 3) domestic tranquility; 4) common defense; 5) promote general welfare; 6) secure liberty; and to keep this Constitution working for the people and posterity.  Have We the People become too complacent?  Now is the time to act.  Congress’ duty is to propose bills and eventually sign them into laws.  But “We the People” have the responsibility to correspond with our voted representatives so they can be aware of what we actually want.  Write them a letter – the written word is a powerful form of communication.  Never forget that the government works for us.  It’s easy to find your representatives: to find your Senator, go to www.senate.gov – to find your U.S. Congressman, go to www.house.gov.  If you are proud to be an American, remember that our voices make this country “The Land of the Free” – so please start writing today!
