Words of Wisdom from SharLeigh
THE REASON FOR THE
SEASON – LOVE!
Tis’ the holiday season and we are all busy preparing for whichever holiday we celebrate this time of year. But no matter which, we must not forget about the reason for the season – love. So many times we tell our family that we love them, but words are easy – it is the acting out of these words that count. This holiday season, when you are busy decorating your home, make it a family affair. The same goes for slaving away in the kitchen – this is a great time for cooking and baking with the family. So what if the cookies are not perfect or the mashed potatoes are lumpy, if other hands want to help, let them (and savor every precious moment). December can bring out your charitable side, but try not to get too wrapped up in helping others and not have enough time for our own family. If we give to others and ignore our own family then we gain nothing. It is very easy to feel like you are being pulled in many directions this time of year – you may be tired and short tempered – but most of us feel like that in December. During Christmastime, it seems that the children are filled with excess energy, but instead of yelling at them, include them in a family activity. Make some popcorn, watch a movie or read them a story. No matter how tired you feel, remember, love is always kind. So what if your house is not totally spotless or perfectly coordinated for the holidays. Does it really matter if you have multiple presents for everyone? No. If you have shared love, than you have taught your family that bicycles rust, video games break, and other gifts are outgrown – but loves endures. This holiday season, remember to put aside your cares and share with your family gifts from your heart. Here is wishing you and yours a most blessed and loving Holiday Season!
