Words of Wisdom from SharLeighTIME FOR A “CLEAN SWEEP”As you take down and pack away your Christmas decorations, do you find that each year your storage area gets smaller? No matter how many space-saving gadgets we purchase, there just does not seem to be enough room for all the “stuff” we have. Let’s be honest – how many of us have a closet that we are afraid to open for fear we will be buried in an avalanche? How many of us have cars parked in the driveway because the garage is so filled you can hardly walk into it? Many of us have attics that are full of interesting objects that are turning into antiques. Where does all this “stuff” come from and what is the practical approach to dealing with it? A good rule of thumb – if you find something that has been stored away for six months and not used, just give it away. Some people rationalize and say, “I cannot give that away, I might need it someday.” Have you ever stopped to think that when you actually might need this item you may forget that you have it or that it might not even work any more? Make a “clean sweep” and pass it on to others that need it. Most of us have a coffeemaker for daily use, but many of us have one or two more of them stored away. What possible good are two stored coffeemakers? Would it not be more practical to pass them on to others who need a coffeemaker? I have found that when I pass things on they are rarely ever missed, and it feels good to know that others are using them. There are many charities that will gladly come to your home to pick up your excess possessions at no charge. You just pack up the “stuff” and leave it on the porch. How easy is that? And think of all the space you will have in your home. Remember, by doing another a good turn, it comes back to you ten-fold. And the immediate blessing of being able to move about your home freely will be priceless! Copyright
