Words of Wisdom from

DIFFERENT WAYS
TO LOOK AT TRAVEL
Summertime is synonymous with the
word vacation. Some people love to travel while others opt for peace and
quiet. To each his own unless you have a family, then it becomes a ritual
to go where no one has gone before! There are many ways to rationalize
vacation time – for the philosophical: A journey of a thousand miles starts
in front of your feet ~ Lao-tzu. The world is a book, and those who do
not travel read only a page ~ St. Augustine. Travel has a way of stretching
the mind. The stretch comes not from travel’s immediate rewards, but with
experiencing firsthand how others do differently what we believed to be
the right and only way ~ Ralph Crawshaw.
For those who are more practical
and balance out life with a sense of humor, these thoughts may satisfy
the bumps in the road: The wonderful thing about family travel is that
it provides you with experiences that will remain locked forever in the
scar tissue of your mind ~ Dave Barry. When preparing to travel, lay out
all your clothes and all your money. Then take half the clothes and twice
the money ~ Susan Heller. I have found out that there ain’t no surer way
to find out whether you like people or hate them than to travel with them
~ Mark Twain. No man needs a vacation so much as the person who has just
had one ~ Elbert Hubbard.
Traveling can be stressful. When
you think you have reached your limit, remember these words of wisdom:
If God had really intended men to fly, he’d make it easier to get to the
airport ~ George Winters. In America, there are two classes of travel
– First Class and with children ~ Robert Benchley. There are only two
emotions in a plane – boredom and terror ~ Orson Welles. Thanks to the
Interstate Highway System, it is now possible to travel across the country
from coast to coast without seeing anything ~ Charles Kuralt. Never take
a cross country trip with a kid who has just learned to whistle ~ Jean
Deuel.
But the most important things to
remember about vacations are: Like all great travelers, I have seen more
than I remember and remember more than I have seen ~ Benjamin Disraeli.
Laughter is an instant vacation ~ Milton Berle. Here’s wishing you and
yours happy travels, wherever your vacations take you.
