Reflecting On The Holiday Season Life is a learning process. During the most intense learning periods we are being refined. Refinement truly takes us on a new path and makes us reflect. The refining period brings our world, as we knew it, to a screaming halt. It resets our priorities and makes us look at life through “new eyes”. That is what happened on that fateful day in September. The whole world stopped and reflected on what each of us as individuals, communities and nations were truly learning through this journey called life.
Many feel the Holiday Season is becoming an obstacle instead of a time of joy. It is such a time of uncertainty. With so much death and destruction around us, how can we celebrate? How can you not? For this is the season of LOVE! To overlook that love is to open the door wide and let evil triumph. Do not let terrorists darken this time of joy and love. They do not understand good - only evil. This year let the good ring out loud and clear. Do something special and listen to your heart. Many times we are moved to speak or to reach out to others, but for some reason we hesitate. When we hesitate, the moment passes, never to be regained. This year just do it! We know how precious each moment of life truly is. We all need the gift of love and touch. We all need to reach out to others.
Christmas is a time for reflection and remembrance of the fond memories of love and laughter that permeated the house during past holidays. It’s also a time to be thankful for the days you had with loved ones that have passed on. Those memories are special gifts of love. For those who are near and dear to us, reach out, hug them and tell them you love them. For others, do a kind favor. It may be one of the greatest Christmas gifts you will ever give. There are so many people who do not understand the gift of love and yet they yearn for what they do not know. The gift of love is inside each and every one of us. This Christmas, let the spirit of love flow through you and let your heart shine out. When we reach out in love we are never hurt but are blessed many times over. The last stanza of a Jan Miller Girando poem states it well: “There’s awareness of our gratitude for blessings from above, there’s a miracle in Christmas, and the miracle is love.” Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year - SharLeigh
