David Kosar’s “Texas Pride” This month’s Readers And Their Rigs comes to us from David Kosar of Dallas, Texas. David, the owner of Rite-Way Trucking in Dallas, uses this clean rig to move trailers and haul local freight throughout the city (when he’s not busy inside the office). The 1996 Peterbilt is powered by an N-14 Cummins with 500 horsepower, linked to an 18-speed transmission and 3.70 rears. The truck, which was named “Texas Pride” by a judge at a truck show (because David couldn’t think of a name), features ample amounts of chrome and accessories from Rockwood and Panelite, 285 lights and a bright Crimson Red paint job. Living in Dallas, David has taken the truck to the Great American Trucking Show (GATS) since its inception five years ago. This is the only show he attends, but he always does very well. Last year, David’s rig took first place in the Fleet-Owned Bobtail class. Over the years, he has collected quite a few trophies from this show. Recently purchasing a new 2004 Pete, David has now begun working on his next show-worthy ride. Rite-Way was formed back in 1971 by David’s father, Frank Kosar. Back then, Rite-Way Trucking’s main work was hauling milk for Carnation. Today, Rite-Way has a fleet of 35 trucks that haul general freight across the nation. David has been running the company for the last six years, which keeps him pretty busy. But, when he can, he loves to get out of the office and hit the road for a few runs. David has been working in the family business since high school, and looks forward to many more years of trucking fun and success. Good luck at GATS 2004! |
