ROLLING
STEEL This month’s “Readers And Their Rigs” comes to us from Chris Riggle (31), an owner operator from Apollo, Pennsylvania. Chris bought this 1988 Pete 379 four years ago from a guy in California. Back then, the truck was dark blue with silver stripes and had a stand-up sleeper. Chris immediately began fixing up the rig. Liking the “Day Cab” look and not needing a sleeper, Chris removed it and began tricking out the truck. He painted the cab and hood with a pearl white paint and the fenders (front and rear), the tanks, the steps, the roof portion of the cab, and the frame a light powder blue. The color combination is quite unique and very eye-catching. Everyone thought Chris was crazy when he added 8-inch stacks but he really liked them. He also added a lot of custom stainless, LED lights with clear lenses, and lowered the rig. The truck is powered by a 425 Cat and has a 15-speed transmission. Hauling steel on a 1997 Reitinour flatbed fitted with a white side kit and custom (matching) powder blue tarp, Chris runs locally around Pittsburgh, PA. Driving for eleven years now, Chris began working at his family’s trucking company when he was 20 years old. Four years ago he bought this truck and became an owner operator. Chris is a third-generation trucker who loves driving but refuses to drive anything that he isn’t proud of. Obviously, he’s proud of this truck. Chris picked up a copy of 10-4 at the Palmdale Truck Drags last year and really enjoyed the magazine. He liked it so much, he signed up for a subscription. Thanks Chris - we hope you especially enjoy this issue. |
