Official “Rock & Roll” Vehicle This month’s Readers and Their Rigs comes to us from Rock & Roll Custom Paintworks in Orange, California. Owner Randy Morton recently built this cool 2003 Kenworth T2000 to tour the country and promote his business, which designs and paints some of the hottest vehicles around. This truck vividly illustrates the type of work that Rock & Roll is capable of doing. Although specializing mostly in motorcycles, they also paint hot rods, helmets, boats, jet skis, guitars, and trucks. In business for over 25 years, Randy’s shop is one of the ten largest custom bike paint shops in the United States. Randy purchased the KW in early 2003 and immediately went to work. Over one single weekend, his team of nine painters basically completed the paint job on this unique truck, which features realistic yellow and orange fire and skulls. Powered by a “tweaked” Cat 550 and a 13-speed tranny, the truck has plenty of “fire” under the hood. After finishing the paint, the truck, which pulls a custom Featherlite trailer, spent three months out on the road attending major bike and hot rod shows throughout the country. Each year, Randy and his crew attend some 35 shows. All their inventory and toys go in the truck (driven by Perry, a veteran truck driver), and then the crew flies in for the show. Afterwards, the crew flies back home and Perry heads to the next event. Painted on the side of the sleeper are Randy’s true feelings about his company and truck, boldly stating, “The Surgeon General Says Nothing About Smoking the Competition!” If you’re looking for an experienced shop to give your rig (or bike, or boat, or rod) a wild custom paint job, give the guys at Rock & Roll Custom Paintworks a call today at (714) 744-0631 or visit their website at www.rr-custompaintworks.com. |
