CONFESSIONS OF A CHROMAHOLIC
This month’s “Readers And Their Rigs” came to our booth at the Las Vegas truck show and asked if he could be a future “Reader Rig” entrant. Jon Jaikes is the lucky company driver that gets to run this 2000 Kenworth W900L (pictured below) owned by Bill Noll Trucking out of Moscow, Pennsylvania. Called “Unnecessary Expense” for obvious reasons (Jon is an admitted Chromaholic) the truck has a 72” Aerocab with a couch, a 255” wheelbase, and is powered by a 475 Cat with an 18-speed transmission and 3:55 rears. Painted Wild Orchid Purple and decked out with some 126 lights (including neon strips that light up the stacks) and lots of chrome (both inside and out), Jon’s sharp truck pulls a 53’ Great Dane reefer with a Carrier unit. Hauling mostly truckloads of plastic pipes and fittings from Scranton, Pennsylvania to Los Angeles, California and then returning with produce, Jon criss-crosses the country twice a month. In addition to all the chrome inside the cab and sleeper, Jon’s KW is also a rolling Jeff Gordon memorabilia museum. Following the young NASCAR driver’s career from the beginning, Jon has cars, banners, license plates, pins, shirts, hats, jackets, keychains and more, all adorning Jeff’s car, number, name and face. Jon even numbered his truck #24 (Jeff Gordon’s number). Recently, after purchasing a bottle of “What-A-Shine” polish, Jon was so impressed that he called the owner (Ed) and offered to help him sell his products. Jon is now Ed’s official Marketing Director. Jon, who is 34 years old, has been married to his wife Carol for eleven years. They have two young daughters, Jessica (10) and Jennifer (5) whom he adores. Our thanks go out to Jon for showing such an interest in 10-4 Magazine. If you’d like to be featured in “Readers And Their Rigs” send photos and information to: 10-4 Reader Rigs, P.O. Box 7377, Huntington Beach, CA 92615. Good luck!
