TINY DEVICE WORKS WONDERS

The biggest news in truck tire cost control is a wireless watchdog that’s smaller than a lug nut. The new Doran Tire Pressure Monitoring System puts a stop to low pressure blow-outs and prevents tire wear. The Doran system uses state-of-the-art technology with wireless sensors, along with an in-dash display which pinpoints the exact position of the under inflated tire. This product, unlike other tire pressure monitoring systems, is simple and easy to use. Each wheel gets its own tire pressure sensor. Installation is a snap - simply screw the tiny device on the valve stem like a cap. When tire pressure falls more than 10% below the desired pressure you preset, the wireless sensor signals the dash-mounted receiver to alert the driver. Given enough time to stop for a refill or get the tire repaired, the costliest of all tire disasters - a high-speed blowout - can be avoided. Statistics prove that 90% of tire failures are caused by under-inflation. Properly inflated tires are not only safer but more efficient - they last longer, improve fuel mileage, increase performance, and reduce labor of tire inspections and overall downtime. In this time of belt-tightening and cost-cutting, it’s a good idea to get the most out of your tires (those things aren’t cheap, you know). This system helps you do that. The battery in each sensor typically lasts for 2-3 years and the entire system is virtually maintenance-free. What could be easier? The only flaw we found was security - the sensors screw off just as easy as they screw on so they are easy to steal. We called Doran and they told us that it hasn’t proven to be a problem yet, but that they are currently working on a locking device to prevent the possibility of any future problems. Doran Mfg. has been around since 1954, and is based in Cincinnati, Ohio. For more information on this neat product, visit www.doranmfg.com or call them toll free at 1-866-816-7233.
