There was some extra testosterone in Saint George, Utah on November 12th when PDI (Performance Diesel Inc.) hosted their 2nd Annual Customer Appreciation Dyno Event and first-ever Show ‘N Shine Contest. With great weather and a super turnout, this event featured fun activities all day long.

About 35 trucks were on-hand to either participate in the dyno competition or compete in the Show ‘N Shine truck beauty contest, or both. And when the smoke cleared (literally), Don Ipson was crowned “King of the Hill” in the dyno competition when his powerful W900 Kenworth registered 1,216 HP.

This was the first time PDI included a truck beauty contest in the show, and many folks came just for that. Stephen Ashburn of Sanger, CA and his clean 2005 Peterbilt car carrier dominated the Show ‘N Shine contest, taking most of the major awards.

Everyone who attended the show was treated to a free lunch and received a free event t-shirt. There were also a few vendors set up at the event, including the guys from FASS and a guy doing pinstriping on-site.

PDI also kicked off a Breast Cancer Awareness fund raiser at the show. They are currently building a tricked-out 2001 Peterbilt 379 to raffle off later in the year. This truck will be valued at over $60,000 when it is all said and done, and all of the proceeds from the raffle ticket sales will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (for more information or to buy a raffle ticket visit www.pdidiesel.com or call 866-299-3835).

As the show came to a close, PDI put their “Cowboy Limo” rig on the dyno just as an exhibition and it pulled a whopping 1,798 HP! Our friend Jeff Botelho summed the show up best by saying, “It was a great, family-style event.” We hope to see you next year.
