    Become A “Trucking Santa”

Trucking Santas has a very basic and simple mission – to help others. For two years now, Heather Pontruff has searched high and low for not just less fortunate families, but also for the least fortunate families. Last year was their first official year. It all started with a text message asking Heather for a personal favor – to adopt someone’s son so that he could have a Christmas. Reflecting on her own childhood, growing up with a single father trying to raise two girls on a Wal-Mart budget (he actually worked there), Heather decided to do more than just “adopt” the one boy – she adopted the entire family and bought them all sorts of gifts and necessities for Christmas that year. This sparked an idea, and soon Heather had several truckers and trucking supporters offering to adopt families. That year, without any experience or organization, she helped 17 families. This year, they have 21 families and an entire cerebral palsy facility looking to be adopted for Christmas. Heather makes no bones about it – these families are not just “scamming the system” and looking for another free handout – they have real issues and true needs. In fact, you can read all their individual stories on the Trucking Santas website and even choose which family (or families) you would like to help. Or, you can simply make a donation. This year, Patriot Outreach, a national non-profit organization, is sponsoring Trucking Santas and offering overwhelming support. If you have ever wondered how you could help someone less fortunate than yourself at Christmastime, this could be it! For more information, visit their website at www.truckingsantas.org and help send kids some Christmas cheer this year.
