This Cool Kid Customizes
His Toy Trucks

Dear 10-4 Magazine,

My name is Sergio Javier Torres. I am 16 years old and live in Tijuana, Mexico. I would like to tell you about how my hobby of customizing miniature toy truck models started. When I was eight years old, I received two toy trucks as Christmas presents. I clearly remember that they were two Peterbilt trucks. My parents noticed that I really liked these two trucks and took very good care of them (compared to my other toys), so I received one more toy truck, then another, then another, etc. Right now, my collection consists of about 150 trucks of which at least 40 are personalized - they are either replicas of trucks that I have seen at the truck shows or some have my own ideas. Ever since I can remember, I have always liked trucks - either from the truck shows my dad and I go to or just the ones my dad works on (he is a truck mechanic). The first time I went with him to see him work I was overwhelmed by those huge monsters on wheels. I would climb in the trucks my dad was working on and find truck magazines like 10-4. Ever since I went to my first truck show in 2002, my passion for trucks has grown. Now, I try not to miss any truck shows in the California area. I would like to send out a salute to all of the truck drivers out there, especially the ones from Tijuana and San Diego. If there are kids out there who have the same hobby as me, please feel free to contact me at caza01@hotmail.com. My English is not too good, but I will try to answer any and all e-mails that I get. Thanks for all you do.

Your friend always,

Sergio J. Torres
