THIS ONE ACTUALLY
GOT TOO LOW Clint Moore’s latest creation belongs to Jeff Houts of Golden Harvest Farms in Madras, Oregon. Jeff, who is a third generation farmer, bought his first truck ten years ago for hauling hay and other supplies needed around the farm. Since then, he has owned a few Petes and five KWs. Currently, he has a 1997 long hood Pete and, now, this new 2007 Pete 379 with a 48” flattop. All of Jeff’s trucks have always been low and cool, but none as low as this latest one - it was actually so low, Clint had to put larger tires on it to make it taller. Everything on this truck was “blacked out” including the headlights, mirror brackets, air cleaners, cab lights, visor, grille surround, fuel tanks, wheels, the backside of the bumper and the sides of the battery boxes. The black powdercoat paint was applied as both a fashion statement and as an attempt to protect the truck from the elements as much as possible (running in Oregon and Washington in the winter can be rough on a truck). Other modifications included reskinning the right side door, smooth deck plate and trunk, clear lenses on the LEDs, 7” pipes, body drop panels and a flip-up front bumper. Jeff’s wife Pam thinks the truck is ridiculous, but his two sons Grayson and Joey love it. Jeff and his dad Bob came out a few days early and ended up running around fetching parts for Clint and his crew all week. Jeff grew up around hot rod cars and thinks his trucks are just oversized hot rods. Clint said the look on Jeff’s face was “priceless” when it was all done. Copyright ©
