CAN’T RUSH “COOL” Clint Moore’s latest creation is a red, white and blue 2007 Pete built for Jeff Long of Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. Over the years, Jeff has had several trucks, buying his first one (a cool A-Model KW with a KTA 600 Cummins) at the young age of twenty-two. Next, he owned a 1986 Pete 359, which he ran for two years. Since then, he has bought three new Peterbilts. It was time for Jeff to buy another truck, but he was on the fence about what to get - should he buy another A-Model Kenworth or a nice, clean, Pete 359 with a long hood? He searched the country high and low, looking for the perfect rig, but found that someone else’s idea of “nice” was not the same as his. Jeff put out the call to Clint, who just happened to have a 300-inch flat top coming in with an ISX 565 Cummins (and the paint was still changeable). Jeff wanted to go retro, so once the truck arrived, they immediately tore it down and went to work. Both of the doors were reskinned and the peep hole on the passenger-side was replaced with a diamond-shaped window, two more diamond-shaped windows were added to the back of the sleeper, blue stripes were painted down the sides (as well as on the insides of the doors), the drop visor, tanks and 359 headlights were powdercoated white and dual, 7-inch, mitre-cut pipes were installed. Jeff wanted to stand out so they removed the blocks and dropped the front end, added four cab lights, a flush mount deck plate, a custom grille, WTI bicycle-style fenders and special one-piece cab panels that give the body a dropped look. They had a little trouble meeting their deadline, but you can’t rush “cool” when building a truck. Jeff and his wife Melissa have a three-year-old boy named Zachary and another due this month (August). We wish them all the luck and congratulate them on their new “retro” ride. Copyright ©
