On the evening of Friday, May 29th, 2015 young trucker Evan Lancaster (31) of Hughson, CA suffered a hemorrhagic stroke and fell into a coma. As he slowly began to recover, an outpouring of support came from family, friends, acquaintances and complete strangers through, among other things, a Facebook page (“Prayers for Evan Lancaster”) that was created for him – this page quickly grew to have over 800 members. The family was absolutely moved by the outpour of donations and support. One trucker friend had hundreds of stickers made, which he sold in a matter of days, and then donated all of the proceeds to Evan’s family – his wife Kayla and their eight-year-old daughter Heidi. A “gofundme” account was setup and, at the time of this writing, had raised almost $13,000 for the family. As people continued to pray for Evan, he seemed to be making some progress, but after suffering a second stroke, sadly, he passed away on Tuesday, June 16th. But, before he completed his journey into the presence of our Heavenly Father, he became a true superhero by donating his organs and giving the gift of life to three other people in need. Evan was a hard-working trucker who drove a beautiful white and lime green 379 Peterbilt for Wild West Commodities, hauling all sorts of feed around central California. Before that, he hauled a lot of hay and cows for other companies. Although we did not know Evan personally, we were told by one of his closest friends that he always dreamed about building a truck and getting in the magazine. This friend plans to build that truck in Evan’s honor, just like they had always talked about, and we can’t wait to feature it in the magazine one day after it is completed. If you would like to help the family, post pictures and/or offer your condolences or support, the Facebook page is still active. On the page, you can also find a link to the “gofundme” account. Our thoughts and prayers are with Evan’s family and friends – God Bless you all!

Evan aka Charolais was loved by all his family and friends. Those of us who were blessed to know him knew he was truly a good person. He loved his daughter and wife more than anything. I am glad I had the good fortune of calling Evan my good friend.
