Here it comes – the Holiday rush – so much to do at work, and even more to do at home! There is not enough time in the day to squeeze one more second. Work never stops. That little invention called the “cell phone” has turned your world upside down. We cannot even take a moment to rest – someone is either texting, emailing or calling from work. It is 24/7 – morning, noon and night – we have all become slaves to those cell phones. Now it is December, so, in addition to all of that, the Holiday calls and texts will likely add to your load. The ads all endorse the ease of life with a cell phone – little do they know that once you turn on the phone you will not have a moment’s peace. Sometimes one wishes they could just sleep the Holidays away – it is like a pressure cooker – especially for truckers, when everyone wants everything at once and they want you in two or three places at the same time. The money is good, but it takes its toll on you. On one hand, you want to give your family a great Christmas, but on the other, you want to be able to enjoy it with your family (or most of it). And let’s not forget about the relatives that you must put up with during the holidays – it reminds me of the original movie “Christmas Vacation” with Chevy Chase as the poor dreamer that wants everything perfect but just misses the mark (and must deal with unruly relatives). It is a wonderful recipe for that pressure cooker to blow! But, never fear – I have a simple solution (sort of) – just promise not to tell anyone or admit to following my advice. First, turn off that dang cell phone (just for a while). Next, get some nice-smelling bubble bath. Don’t bolt for the door yet! Grab a six-pack of your favorite brew – there are some great Holiday flavors, if you want to feel festive. Then, take over the bathroom and tell everyone to leave you alone. That’s right – I am recommending that you take a bubble bath. Ease into the tub and pop a cold one. There is something about those tiny bubbles and a cold beverage that just takes your worries away. Remember, mum’s the word – it is our little secret. Enjoy your holiday break and have a Merry Christmas!
