While fueling at Truck World in Hubbard, OH a man approached me and introduced himself as Lefty, saying that he recognized my truck, because his father used to pick up 10-4 Magazines while out on the road and bring them back for him to read when he was younger. Lorenzo “Lefty” Averette of Texas City, Texas, loved seeing my column, among all the others, while dreaming about becoming a trucker like his dad. Today, Lefty is living his dream, and he just got back from East Palestine, OH where he, and other guys from his company, were early responders to the horrible hazmat spill from a train derailment there. They were loading product into their tanker trailers while the wreckage was still burning! Now, Lefty can grab a 10-4 Magazine that he is featured in and bring it back to show his father. You, sir, brought up not just a trucker, but a hero, and a kind person whose company I enjoyed for those few minutes.
