“It takes a lot of wrenching and polishing and trucking all night.”
~ Fred Roush, Baxter, IA
“Trucking gets in your blood. It’s the pushing yourself to the limit, trying to make them back-to-back rounds. You want to go home, but when you are home, your mind says you need to go trucking. It’s like a bad drug you can’t kick,” says Fred Roush (60), who owns and still drives this beautiful classic American truck seen here. “This is a 1984 Peterbilt 359. I bought this truck in 1985 and I ran it from the Midwest to the East coast for years then sold it. Twelve years later, I found it, bought it back, and restored it, then let it sit for several years. Then I decided to put it back to work. I guess it’s just a cool old truck with sentimental value. This truck has some modifications, like a newer low leaf air ride, but all the wiring and the 3406 CAT motor are all original.” Extraordinary men driving spectacular machines – that’s where The Spirit of the American Trucker lives!
