“I don’t know if trucking is an addiction or just joyful stupidity!” – Darwin Hershberger
To get ahead these days, you have to run hard. Livestock haulers, like young gun Darwin Hershberger of Greeley, Colorado, seen here streaking across the expansive Wyoming landscape in a truck owned by Jacob Weber, are famous for “doing what it takes” to get their live load delivered safe and in a timely manner. “I grew up on a dairy farm and been around animals all my life. I tried hauling a few other things, but always ended up back with livestock. The pig deal went bad so now I just stick to hauling cows. The feeling you get when you watch the last cow walk off your trailer after doing a slingshot halfway across the country and knowing how hard it was is one hell of an adrenalin rush! It feels good to know that you did your job – and you did it right.” There is no shortcut to success in the trucking business – working hard, working smart and having passion and persistence are the keys to a fruitful future in driving and/or owning a truck!
