Seeing this old Mack SuperLiner takes me back to when I went on a little trip to Reno with an 82-year-old trucker who was still driving. He told me stories about how he started driving in the 50’s when every road in California went through the middle of every town, and if his truck ever broke down, there were always some good local people who would let him use the phone or sleep at their house until his truck was fixed. Boy, those were the days! This old guy was an owner operator for most of his life and his wife never had to work – she was able to stay home and raise the kids. That old man was so proud of what his 60-year driving career had provided for his family – and in my mind, he was the true definition of the slogan, “Built like a Mack truck!”
