This picture from the road makes me think about “the good old days” of trucking. Back then, fuel was 79 cents a gallon and a load from Salinas to New York paid seven grand. Looking at this incredible “A” you also realize how much better they built trucks back then – they were tough (made out of metal, not plastic). The driver of this KW, if you look closely, can be seen talking to his buddies on the C.B. (cell phones did not even exist back then). Many of the technological advancements we enjoy today weren’t ever really needed. Those were the days! We need to get back to days like that!!

How can you have a section about the “Spirit of the American Trucker” by a guy that isnt even american?
That is the beauty of it, Jeff. Not being an American (yet) but an immigrant from a socialist country (Poland), Art has a unique perspective and view of the “American Dream”. Us Americans don’t even know what we have because we have never known any different so we, generally, don’t appreciate what we have as much as someone like Art does. He has been here for ten years and trucks hard – and he probably loves this country more than you and me combined. If you ever get a chance to meet him out there, you will see exactly what we are talking about!!

Jeff, I was wondering the same thing when Daniel (after seeing other pictures I have send him) came up with the name for the series… But he is the man who invented trucking magazine that is free yet everyone want to be in it – perpetuum-mobile of modern publishing. Who Am I to disagree??? Even If was American (which I will never really be because you can be born only once) I wouldn’t get into such argument. I could give up on “AKA Polska Jazda” but this is part of some other operation: direct hit on Chicago-Ghetto mentality. It will be devastating, I promise you
I guess you have a point!
