The American Truck Show Circuit (ATSC) hosted the third stop of its National Championship Series and Wash and Show on September 14-16 at Arrowhead Stadium.  A selection of local and out-of-state trucks came out as ATSC hosted a stop of its series in Kansas City for the first time.  The iconic venue served as an epic backdrop for the event and allowed for some unique competitor perks.  And, due to the size of the venue, trucks were able to park with plenty of space around them, making it easy to appreciate and capture all the dedication and custom work parked out on the lot.

A few of the standout rides present included Always Haulin’s white and orange “Dreamsickle” 2007 Peterbilt 379, Robbie Basse’s “Baby Blue” 2016 Kenworth W900L, J & L Contracting’s red and white “Never Satisfied” 2008 Kenworth W900L, and Brian Dreher’s orange and purple 2016 Peterbilt 389 combo.  Friday night, Dynaflex Products hosted a BBQ buffet dinner where they also raffled off 10 sets of tickets for 20 competitors to watch the Minnesota Twins take on home team Kansas City Royals at the adjacent Kaufman Stadium.

Throughout the day on Saturday, ATSC offered both competitors and vendors the opportunity to go on private tours of Arrowhead Stadium.  The 90-minute guided tour included views of the press box, locker room, field, and Chiefs Hall of Honor.  An array of local food trucks also made their way to the site, providing unique and tasty food options throughout the weekend.  One that stood out – the KC BBQ Truck, with its mouthwatering pulled pork sandwich and signature sides, including creamy slaw, taters and baked beans.  The interactive baseball and basketball inflatables were also a hit with both kids and adults, alike.  Saturday night was capped-off with a Display of Lights and Sound, where competitors showcased their lights and upgraded sound systems.

The weekend concluded on Sunday morning with some great giveaways and the awards ceremony.  Prizes given away to “Wash and Show” competitors exclusively included a Dynaflex Products exhaust kit, Hogebuilt full tandem fenders, a Valley Chrome bumper, various accessories from Lifetime Nut Covers and Brunner Fabrication, Stay Loaded Apparel t-shirts, and $500 from Fitzgerald Glider Kits.  All the hardware for the event (trophies) were made by Dynaflex and distributed for the three contests that were happening on the lot throughout the weekend, which included the Wash and Show, the National Championship Series (NCS), and the People’s Choice contests.

In addition to the custom trophies, $9,000 in prize purses was also given away to the first, second and third place Best of Show winners in the NCS.  Matt Strottman clinched his national title in the Elite Working Bobtail division with his 2017 Peterbilt 389, as did Always Haulin’s “Dreamsickle” in the Limited for Show Bobtail division, and Shawn Helt took home People’s Choice with his green 1965 Peterbilt 351.  With just one more show to go in Ventura, CA, be sure to visit the ATSC website (www.atsc.world) for the most current standings in the NCS.
